How Chemistry Effects Players

Does Chemistry Matter?

Everyone is always wondering if chemistry really matters in FIFA Ultimate Team. People have been playing players out of position and haven’t been doing badly. I, for instance, play Cristiano Ronaldo in a ST position where he is on 7 chemistry and he seems to do very good there.  So, does chemistry matter? Well recently EA has answered some questions on Reddit and we posted that here. One of the questions was about chemistry and the answer was very interesting.

In a nutshell, EA has stated that a player on 5 chemistry will play to his base stats. That means my Cristiano Ronaldo playing at ST on 7 chemistry will still play like a 92 rated player at the minimum. Of course, If I played him on the left as a winger or mid and he would be on 10 chemistry, one would assume that would mean he would play more like a 95 rated player or better.

Nepenthez made a video trying to explain this whole thing to you. I like his explanation but I believe he’s overshooting his stat boosts.  I don’t believe that a player on 10 chemistry is getting +5 basis points added to each of their stats. I’m more inclined to believe that 10 Chemistry might get you +3 basis points on each stat.  Also when Neppo starts to talk about chemistry cards he says he would rather have Ronaldo on an Artist card as opposed to a Hunter card because the stats would max out at 99. I’m not sure I buy into that because when TOTY first came out, you could see on EAs FUT database that some of those players had over 99 on some of their ratings. That has since changed and I don’t know why. Either EA really capped them off at 99 or they just don’t want to share with us any ratings over that 99 cap.  Again EA is not being transparent and that shouldn’t surprise you.

Also, I read somewhere a while back that depending on what chemistry card you apply to a player it will change his actual on field behavior. Add a Hunter card to your CDM and you will find him making more forward runs and being out of position defensively and so on. You should also keep that in mind when deciding what type of card to apply to a player.  Here’s Neppo’s very informative video. Just don’t forget that this is all speculation. You should draw your own conclusions with experimentation.
