FUT is a highly tactical game.  Sure you can run around and lob thru balls all day and win, but even then you will find that setting instructions on your squads will equate to more successful lobbed thru balls.  In this video Dirty Mike illustrates exactly where you can set those instructions and his recommendations on how to set them are pretty solid.

Setting the Roles of each player could come in handy also and help speed the game up.

Side Note:  I play the 433 formation and set my wingers to “Stay Forward” and “Get in behind”.  Usually use fast wingers who can dribble and pass.  My ST or CF is either set on “Get in behind” or “Target Man” depending on the player.  If he’s big and strong, you want to set it on “Target Man”.  If he’s fast set it on “Get in Behind”.
